Lukas Pfeil is a German jazz saxophonist, composer and arranger.
He studied Jazz Saxophone at HfMT in Cologne. After his graduation, he moved to New York City to attend the Master’s program at Queens College. He received instruction from Prof. Antonio Hart in jazz saxophone performance, and from Prof. Michael Mossman in composition/arrangement. His studies were supported by a scholarship of the German Academic Exchange Service (‘DAAD’).
In 2018 and 2019, he toured to Brazil as guest artist with the Felipe Silveira Trio. A tour of Germany with his own quartet feat. Eric Alexander followed in 2022. In the course of his professional career, he has also had the opportunity to perform with Chad Lefkowitz-Brown, Bob Reynolds, Dusko Goykovich, Joe Gallardo, Lillo Scrimali, Paul Heller and Thorsten Skringer.
He hosts the monthly concert series ‘The Sound of Jazz’ at Jazzclub Kiste in Stuttgart, which has featured guest artists like Adrian Mears, Fola Dada, Klaus Graf, Hubert Winter, Thilo Wagner, Jan Prax, Felix Fromm, Carolyn Breuer, Jean Paul Höchstädter, Christian Mehler, Andi Maile, Laura Kipp, Stephan Zimmermann, Alberto Menendez and many more.
2023 saw the release of his debut album ‘Joint Venture’ as a co-leader with ‘Sörös Pfeil Group’, a jazz quartet featuring Martin Sörös, Niklas Lukassen and French drummer Raphaël Pannier.
Lukas Pfeil teaches ‘Jazz and Pop musicianship’ at Music Academy ‘Louis Spohr’ in Kassel.
